One of the reasons Palouse Mindfulness can be as effective as a live course is because you are not limited to eight weeks of learning since you can take as long as you like to fully absorb the teachings and practices of each "week", and much more material is available.

What if I have questions while taking the course?A distinct advantage of the Palouse Mindfulness course is that you don't have to wait for a once-a-week meeting to ask a question or share a concern. There are optional weekly and monthly zoom meetings (see Zoom Meditation & Discussion Meetings) where students can join a zoom meeting that includes a live meditation and time for sharing experiences and/or asking questions about the practices that are part of the course. There are experienced graduates and senior students in all the Palouse Mindfulness forums who can answer specific questions. There is also the option to join the Palouse Mindfulness Facebook group, through which questions can be asked any time, day or night, and there is usually a response within a few hours,


To get more of a sense of what the course is about...The Introduction is designed to give you a sense of mindfulness and an idea of how this course is structured. For each of the eight weeks, videos, readings and practices help you build a base of both knowledge and experience. MBSR "At a Glance" provides a brief outline of the MBSR course.


No registration required - begin whenever you're readyThis course is completely self-guided (there is no registration and only you will be monitoring your progress, using the provided practice sheets). If you successfully complete the eight weeks of practice and study and send the materials indicated in Requesting a Certificate of Completion, weI will send you a personal note of congratulations along with a certificate of completion. There is no cost for this. You simply submit your practice sheets and a one page description of what you've learned and how you will be incorporating what you learned into your life.

Apprentices must be grounded in all material BEFORE coming to the programs first module. There are regular proficiency exams (verbal, written & practical) on this material throughout the Apprenticeship. The Home Study Course should start at least 6-weeks before the first module. Many students choose to start the Home Study course earlier, giving them more time to prepare and go deeper.


Sign, Say, and Play! is a live online baby sign language workshop series for hearing babies. Classes are a fun and entertaining way for parents and hearing babies to learn sign language together. Topics covered in this six-week series include mealtime, bedtime, bath time, getting dressed, pets, and the park. Through songs, activities, books, and instruction, six or seven signs are learned during each session. Siblings and other family members are welcome to join in. Register online.


During this live, online course, a certified cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) instructor teaches parents and caregivers the basic steps of CPR and choking relief for infants up to 1 year old. Participants are asked to have on hand a doll or stuffed animal to use for practicing chest compressions alongside the instructor. This webinar is designed to provide an overview of the basic steps of infant CPR and choking. It is not a certification course. The course includes time to ask questions and have group discussion with the instructor. Register online.

Yes We Have Drop-in Classes! There are several classes each week that you can drop-in to. It is best to have specific background in Iyengar Yoga to drop-in on any of these classes except the Friday Night Slower Yoga Class. Why? Because all of our classes are a 4-9 week series. If you lack a background in the Iyengar Yoga Fundamentals that we teach in the Level 1 Fundamentals, you slow the course down for people who have signed up for the whole 6-9 week course. If you do have Iyengar Yoga Background you can drop-in to the Fundamentals Classes listed this week on our schedule of daily and weekly classes. For those with recent Iyengar Yoga background, and are currently practicing yoga, we have more advanced classes several evenings a week. Richard Schachtel is one of the most highly trained and experienced yoga teachers in the Northwestern United States. He has assembled a group of talented, inspiring and relatable teachers to form his staff. The Center's teachers are all serious students of yoga who practice what they teach! Many have trained with Richard in his weekly classes or his teacher training courses, and have personally apprenticed with him.


In our most comprehensive course to date, we combine weekly archival Ram Dass teachings, mantras, and meditation with live virtual teaching sessions from a fantastic lineup of wisdom leaders, movement and yoga practitioners, and virtual community gatherings where you can share and connect with Satsang (spiritual community).


Live weekly virtual breakout discussion groups with others in the course community via Zoom. We are hosting two separate gatherings each week, one at 10:40am PDT and one at 4:40pm PDT to accommodate our non-U.S. based students as well as our U.S. based students.


This new 35-hour course includes premium curated content, meditations, weekly live teachings, weekly live group discussions, "deep dive" extended material, and weekly homework reflections. Most organizations would charge $300 or more for such a course to cover the costs of teachers, staff, and production.


This course is scheduled, as several components of these teachings are live events. Each Monday morning for the duration of the 8-week course, a new theme/lesson will be unlocked. You will receive an email inviting you to log in to your Teachable account to access that week's teachings.

Fees for tuition and material fees for instructional materials consumed by students and instructors are required by s. 38.24, Wis. Stats. Material fees are to be charged to all students on a uniform basis unless exempted by state statute, administrative code or State Board action. The specific fee to be charged for each individual enrollment shall be based on the material fee category assignment of the instructional area and it is assumed to be the minimum in the above estimated cost. The tuition amounts listed above do not include the $7.50 Student I.D. fee, $7. 00 Student FastCare Healthcare or costs for books and miscellaneous fees for various courses.


The online version of the MBSR program allows it to be offered beyond the normal limits of distance and time. The entire course is delivered live through online video conferencing, and rather than meeting in-person, you will engage with the teacher and interact with other participants through your computer screen and web camera during weekly class sessions. Home assignments and guided meditation audio files are all available online. The online platform brings everyone together within the virtual classroom from different time zones, and with diverse life experiences and perspectives from around the world.


At the halfway point in this course, you should now be familiar with the foundations of mindfulness and able to focus on applying it more rapidly and effectively to specific challenges and stressors in your life. This week you will begin to pay attention to the places where you might be stuck in repeating, unhealthy patterns that you can disarm through mindful awareness. You will also learn how to apply mindfulness at the critical moment when you experience a physical sensation, intense emotion, or condition, with special attention to exploring the effect of reactivity in health and illness.
